generala replied to your post “people seem to forget that the porn industry is an INDUSTRY. of course…”

BUT TO ME, A CONVENTIONALLY ATTRACTIVE WHITE GIRL WITH LITTLE TO NO FINANCIAL BURDEN OR OBLIGATIONS, IT IS VERY EMPOWERING!!!!!!

(laughs to keep from crying)

Also a lot of porn isn’t even consensual for the women involved.

if you can even call most of them “women” considering the frighteningly large number of underage performers…

people seem to forget that the porn industry is an INDUSTRY. of course we aren’t going to be encouraged to criticize porn because that’s bad for business. i just don’t see how anyone can be against “big business/corporations” but still somehow think the porn industry is just some benign entity that totally isn’t relying the exploitation of humans the same way any companies operating with sweatshops are.

and since we’re on the topic i really can’t think of any long-term gains we as a society could get out of the porn industry.

it relies too heavily on exploitation and abuse of the majority of “performers”, and anyone who consumes it is also guilty of creating a demand for sexualized abuse and degradation of human beings - mostly women.

like we can’t even pretend the sex in porn is normal sex. it’s loaded with violence against female bodies, especially young, marginalized female bodies. we’ve reached a point as a culture where abstinence from porn is bizarre. porn is literally supposed to be a part of our own sexuality and it’s frightening how normalized it’s become. we’ve become desensitized to the overt violence of it, and the more abuse we see the worse the demand for more extreme abuse will get.

porn consumption has been scientifically proven to damage our sexuality as human beings. it’s not just fantasy anymore. people are being exploited for the sake of our cheap orgasms and that is a crime.

barbieprivilege:

also stop using images of sasha grey naked betwixt her quotes abt sexuality to justify ur liberal sex posi feminist garbage when she quit the industry bc of the abuse she endured therein

did she really quit because of that?? all the statements i’ve read from her are still fully defending the porn industry and saying she wishes “positive” stories like hers had more exposure.

today was skressful
